The Anton Day Smile Foundation

Click here to Visit the Anton Day Smil Foundation

The charity was setup in memory of Anton Day to raise money for the support of sufferers of Leukaemia and their families and carers at the John Radcliffe and Churchill Hospitals in Oxford.

The first aim of the Anton Day Smile Foundation will be to raise £50,000 for a memorial garden on the roof of the Churchill Hospital in Oxford where cancer patients from this area are treated. This garden is an important place for those who suffer from cancer to go get away from it and collect their thoughts, and have a change of scenery.

Please click on the Anton Day logo above to visit their website, participate in Fund raising or Donate to this worthy cause, thank you,

The Anton Day Smile Foundation.

Welcome to Our Fund Raising page for

Lesley Webb.

This letter was written by Lesley's Children in the hope of getting enough people to Donate just £1 to her cause.

Please can you take 5 minutes to read this letter?

We are writing to you to ask for your help in saving our beautiful mums life.
Lesley Webb/Hobden was born in Bracknell Berkshire and has lived there all her life.
Our mum has been married for 30 wonderful years: She has 5 children and 4 grandchildren with another grandchild on the way.
Last September 2008 she was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour called Glioblastoma Multiforme. This was only found out by accident after our mum was taken ill in hospital with a twitchy eye and the loss of the use of her right-hand side of her body. She was first diagnosed as having a mild stoke, but only to be told a few hours later that she had a brain tumour. At this point all our lives would change forever!
Lesley had an operation on the 19th September 2008 where they were able to remove approximately 60% of the tumour, but were unable to remove anymore of the tumour due to it sitting on the part of the brain which controls speech and the right-hand side of your body.
In the year past Lesley has undergone 2 batches of chemotherapy and one batch of radiotherapy. The treatments have worked as best they could, but as the tumour is so aggressive it has started to grow back again.
Her doctor, Dr Brock at Charring Cross Hospital enforced the Stage 2 level of treatment which is a stronger dose of chemotherapy, if this fails the next step would be for stage 3; which at this time are only at the clinical trail stages here in UK with an uncertain and untested outcome.
We have found an alternative treatment in America, which is a laser form of radiotherapy; this blazes the tumour cells only, leaving the other body organs alone. This intern equals less poison for the body to fight; less damage to the body as a whole and less side affects. The success rate of this treatment in America is good, but the cost is very high.
This is where we need your help, please. The average cost for this laser treatment is over £250,000.00. Depending on how long the treatment takes. We are already raising money for the fund ourselves with sponsored walk, raffles, auctions, and sponsored football matches. Our mum’s life has changed dramatically as has ours, but we want to fight with her and support her through this very difficult time. Our mum depends on us her family 24 hours 7days a week for support and care. She has good days where there is no stopping her fighting hard to not let this illness deter from her giving us the love and devotion that only a mother and wife can give. Then there are the bad days, those bad days begin where she can not talk or walk; even holding a cup for her self is too difficult. Those days we can see the hell in her face that she is going through. It is only the determination and stubbiness to fight this illness that keeps us all going, god knows where she would be today without that or where we would be without her.
It is our mum who holds our family together, we all want her to see her children and grandchildren grow up, but we can not and will not imagine life without her.

Please help our mum and our family in anyway you can. No matter how small or insignificant you might think it is, every penny will count, WE WILL WIN THIS FIGHT!

Please visit our facebook page (below) “Lesley Webb/Hobden cancer fund” for further details of up and coming events. We will of course like to make our thanks on this page to everyone one who supports us and will continue to support this great cause. As we move forward, a further unique website will be linked so please do logon and become a fan, with a donation, suggestions, or even a gift. Your support will be much appreciated

Thank you for taking the time to read this,

THE WEBB FAMILY.
